A group of friends survives in Edinburgh without major aspirations, without dreams and with the drug as motive only one. In his more feasted movie, the British filmmaker Danny Boyle realizes a raw, dense portrait of the reality of the European young men of the 90, across a history that, nevertheless, He entertains with his succession of gags and his aesthetic offer. Loaded with black humor and cynicism - the same one that the director already had showed in his prime opera, tomb to the evenness of the land-, the movie is agile from the point of view of the assembly and includes some ludicrous touches surreales.

Trainspotting is one of my favourite movies. It was so influentual not just in the way it was made but also in its use of music and its marketing, and its influence can still be seen today, just look at Channel 4's "Skins".
Anyone who says it promotes drug use is missing the point (and clearly hasnt seen it. It deals with the bleak subject with surprising moments of humour but certainly doesnt glamorise the choices of the characters.
